Turf Type Tall Fescue Sod Installation

The quickest way to affect change on your property, a sod installation requires far less inputs from property owners than an establishment seeding, but is also more expensive due to labor and material expenses.

Turf Type Tall Fescue (TTTF) Sod Installation

Turf Type Tall Fescue sod installation provides a lush, green lawn solution well-suited for the Transition Zone climate of Northeast Oklahoma.  Tall Fescue offers a good balance of heat and cold tolerance, performing better in these fluctuating conditions than many other cool-season grasses.

This turfgrass option is relatively low-maintenance, requiring less fertilization and watering than some other varieties once established, and boasts good disease resistance.

While it can stay green year-round in mild winters, it may require supplemental watering during hot, dry summers to prevent browning.

Tall Fescue's bunch-type growth habit means it's less invasive than spreading grasses, but also means damaged areas may need reseeding.

Our professional installation ensures a healthy start for your Tall Fescue lawn, giving you a beautiful and functional outdoor space.

Features

Tall Fescue is a cool-season turfgrass well-adapted to the Transition Zone, including Northeast Oklahoma.  It offers a balance of heat and cold tolerance.

Pros:

  • This cultivar is more heat and drought-tolerant than other cool-season grasses, making it suitable for the Transition Zone.

  • Can handle partial shade better than many other cool-season grasses. Most commonly used in our area in high shade zones and along northside of structures and fences.

  • Generally resistant to many common turfgrass diseases.

  • Can stay green throughout the winter in mild winters.

Cons:

  • Annual Reseeding Required:  Except for unique circumstances, this turfgrass type will  require annual reseeding to maintain density and turf quality.

  • While this cultivar is much more disease resistance than other cool season turfgrasses, this type will experience more disease pressure than common bermudagrass.

  • Not as heat-tolerant as warm-season grasses: Can struggle in extremely hot and dry summers, even with proper care.  Will require supplemental watering July-September.

  • Requires more water than warm-season grasses: While drought-tolerant compared to other cool-season grasses, it still requires more water than warm-season varieties.
