Double Eagle Rye
Double Eagle Rye is a medium to dark-green bunch-type grass with a coarse texture. It offers a uniform appearance when properly started and maintained. In our growing area, this grass is tolerant of full sun (3-6 hours of direct sunlight) and advanced cultivars are more heat and drought tolerant. It pairs well with tall fescue plantings in shade to achieve a uniform cool-season lawn and also with Bermuda lawns to achieve 'year-round green'. However, it is sterile and will not reseed itself. It also tends to clump and does not spread after maturity. Although perennial, summer heat can cause dieback most years, requiring annual overseeding to maintain density.
