The primary reason we are hired is to deliver a weed free growing season for our clients. A critical component of any weed control program are pre-emergent herbicides. This class of herbicide has an extended and fairly predictable life in soils. Pre-emergent herbicides work by actively killing taproots from newly germinated seeds. Pre-emergent herbicides are not selective however. They don't know the difference between fescue grass seed roots and henbit weed roots.
For this reason alone, communication will be key in the success of your seed application plans. We recommend contacting us any time you plan to plant in your lawn. This simple communication can prevent disappointment and wasted money.
Treatment specific recommended waiting interval after pre-emergent application has been made:
Fall Pre-Emergent -- 4 months after application
Spring Pre-Emergent -- 4 months after application
Summer Pre-Emergent -- 5 months after application
By letting us know you have plans to seed, we can adjust your treatment formulations to create an appropriate seed application window. We want to work with you to build your ideal lawn; working with your seed plans rather than against them. With a little notice and some planning we can save you money and a lot of questions later.
